*Kaj je kompa?
Kompa ali konpa ali compas je glasbena in plesna zvrst iz Haitija, ki se je pojavila sredi 20. stoletja in postaja vedno bolj popularna. Tradicionalni kompa zvoki zajemajo različna trobila in pihala (saksofon, trobenta, pozavna) k počasnejšim ritmom méringue de salon ob taktu tipičnih bobnev iz Haitija. Novejša oz. modernejša kompa veliko tradicionalnih kompa inštrumentov nadomešča z elektronskimi (sintesajzer, bobni) in dodaja druge elemente.
Tudi kompa se je razvila naprej v različne stile. Rabbil nam bo s svojim znanjem predvsem približal avtentičnost tega plesa.

*What is kompa?
Kompa or konpa or compas is a music and dance genre from Haiti, which emerged in the mid 20th century and is becoming more and more popular. Traditional compa sounds feature different brass instruments (saxophone, trumpet, trombone) to the slower rhythms of méringue de salon, set along to the beats of tanbou, a barrel drum from Haiti. Modern kompa, or compas nouvelle génération, replaces many traditional kompa instruments with electronic equipment, such as synthesizers and drum machines, and adds elements of hip-hop and reggae to appeal to club and dancehall audiences.
Also kompa evolved into different styles. With his knowledge, Rabbil will present us the authenticity of this dance.
